1. Thank you for taking some time to be interviewed for Trap Metal Magazine. Can you please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us your name?!
Hello Everyone!
I am Dark Artist with a wide range of versatility that includes screaming, rapping and singing & I go by spx.xky (spooky)
Also Thank you Trap Metal Magazine I appreciate being a part of this years issue! I admire everything you do for The Underground for real.
2. How long have you been working/making music under this project title?
I have been experimenting with my sound as spx.xky for 5 ½ years now
3. Who gets bragging rights for helping you get to where you are now? Who are your day ones?
I have to say my drive and discipline have got me to where I am now. My kindness, Communication, and Patience have helped me identify with good souls that have played an internal influence in the energy that drives my success today.
I value everyone’s support, for various different reasons along my path, day ones or if I just meet someone, good times, and bad they have all “helped” build my character and support the direction I choose to navigate based off of each experience, life has provided many lessons for growth, it just depends on what eyes we view from
I accredit my foundation and energy to my Mom, Dad, Brother, children and my love Sydney they have and will always be my why to everything.
4. What were you doing before all this started? Did you have other notable projects before this one?
Prior to Spx.xky I was in The Marines for 6 years, so after living such an extreme and structured lifestyle on one end of the spectrum of society I had to obtain some amount of peace and structure for my own reality outside of The Marines that was true to me.
I always wrote music and practiced some form of art in my life, I am very versatile with my genres of metal, alternative and rap, and have had bands and my own side projects constantly, but all in all I believe the truest representation of myself has had to have been the art I have made as Spx.xky.
5. What can we expect from you next year? New music, visuals or tours?
I have made a commitment to myself to build connections with like minded artists on a similar path this year and better my time management to balance more shows, consistent visual content for my releases, and I have been doing a lot of writing in the backrooms of my mind so of course more music.
6. What are your long-term goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years. What about your end game?
Some of my long term goals would be to build my own annual event in Southern California for our scene where artist can come together and perform, I would love to connect with more people that enjoy my music as I continue on this journey, and focus on more and more depth overall as a person so I can better connect with people through my art.
In 10 years I’d say I would love to be playing for a larger audience, and be at a place mentally where I know my music has played a significant role to those on a similar vibration as I, all I really want to do at the end of the day is to see I made an impact on my community of listeners.
7. With an interest in who your influences are, if you could go on tour with anyone in the world, who would be on the bill with you?
B-Real, $uicideBoy$, Linkin Park, Warlord Colossus, Sxmpra, Sinizter, Pranav.wav Kill Dyll, Eraze, Yusha and even doing a tour with homies that I have met throughout the years, there is just so much amazing talent in the underground
8. What is your local music scene like? What are the pros and cons? And where do you see room for improvement?
The local music scene here is a great community with big aspirations and goals, I have taken joy in seeing everyone’s journey progress in their own way. That said I feel like we have a community that is very self driven which is wonderful.
I feel some cons could be when people let their ego show brighter then their light in this industry, gatekeeping what has made themselves successful to help others along the way, and pay to play events because I truly know my self worth and everyone else should as well.. anything over $50 for a 15 minute set with a 10 person show rate is just unacceptable, I’m sure many artist have dealt with plenty other examples like this in their own perspective.
9. Here at TMA we’re constantly looking for fresh talent and prospective features. If you had to choose 5 artists from your circle to put us on too, who would you choose and why?
My good friend producer and engineer who I have been making music with since our freshman year of highschool @y_r_2_k_ on IG, my talented homie with such a great soul that raps Ezy RU @94.ru.ezy on IG, my homie who has a wide range vocally and is great with the experimental sound @sinxmorrison on IG, my friend with insane monstrous vocals and who I love seeing live every time @fello_de_se on IG, and lastly @imyusha one of my favorite alt artists hands down in the underground because of the emotion and energy he brings to his sound
10. As we wrap this up, is there anything else you want to add? And thank you for your time!
I want to leave you all with this, if you lead with “love” for what you are doing instead of “fear” and have “faith” in the abilities you have instead of “doubt” the universe will present opportunity and blessings but you must shift your perspective to change your view of reality
no matter how small or big these blessing or opportunity’s seem they are lesson to help you heal and properly navigate through life, create logic with your thoughts and use your emotion as the force that drives the action in your life, our choices determine the path we take, stay in your light and learn from your dark, and I truly believe that all of us will be something more then exceptional.
