If you dont know who Tonejustdied is let me bring you up to speed. Tonejustdied is a lyrical scream rapper. I say lyrical because this is an artist that boasts impressive bars. He’s not just randomly screaming over a beat tryna catch a trendy rhythm. He’s writing songs, and practicing storytelling with his music. If I had to sum it up, Tonejustdied is a glass half full influenced by Nascar Aloe’s raw punk energy, and the other half ignited by Slim Shady’s savage tactics and lyrical genius. But that being said Tonejustdied is also one of the few artists in the Trap Metal sector that has his own sound. And this is what sets him apart from the rest. He’s genuinely doing his own thing.
The into song Wet Floor was NOT what I was expecting from Tone. We get a glimpse of his softer side. He introduces his debut record with a spoken word message over nostalgic strings. Don’t slip on a wet floor, not everything is what it seems. Fuck this record has already started out strong with introspective and a painful relatability.
Now we get into the thick of things, and this next track shows us why this article belongs on a Trap Metal authority website / blog. BRAiNLOCK is a lethal track of facts about being unapologetic towards posers. This track is more rhythmic with tone putting more emphasis on the message, while preventing it from getting lost with his more complex bar sculpting skills.
Speaking of more complex bars, BANG! Is an explosive offering leaning more towards the technical side of word casting. Why would he care about yall, when everything you ever said wasn’t even your own thought? BANG! reminds me why Tone is one of my favorite rappers from Arizona. Dude is crafting bars with precision. A fully automatic assault riffle, bang BANG!
Judas: Oh man. I love it when a record puts on a display of diversity. We get a taste of Tonejustdied’s ignorant side. This track sounds like what Tone’s actual personality is like in person. Raw, hyper, unapologetic but on a soundcloud era beat. He’s alternative as fuck but still seasoned with Hiphop Culture. “Even Jesus got punked by a pussy named JUDAS” Im gonna remember that bar for the rest of my life. Spitting strait facts, mfs are fake! F*ck em!
If you like Xtreme Trap’s genre bending sound schemes, you are going to love B!TEBACK. Tone hacks a download uploading himself to the cyberpunk servers. This one is crazy and hyper violent. Ive heard plently of songs like this recently, but NOTHING like this. The sounds here are meticulously cut up, crafted, and engineered. Yes is a whole lot of noise, but its performed and programed with discriminating taste. Very impressive. And I love how the song concludes like Tone just woke up from crazy dream.
Now i’m not going to comment on each and every song on the record because attention spans are short. Although they are all fire and play their role in the piece as a whole. The next 3 songs, tracks 6-8 create an atmosphere that plays out like a movie. This is the climax of the record giving listeners a chance to collect their breath. The eye before the storm because track 8: SEEMEiNHELL brings us right back to the destructive nature of Tonejustdied’s musical brand.
Now lets get into the features. This album has 3 stand out features on it from Xtreme Trap’s very own Dirty Butt performing one of his sickest collabs so far! You can tell when Dirty fucks with someone based off the energy he puts into the collab. And he went OFF on this collab with Tone. He was feeling it. Love how rhythmic and natural his verse comes out.
Tone and Dj Lurcardo match energy on GRAND LARCENY. And again, Lucardo is throwing Tone some of his most genius lyrics. I hate it when an artist gets on a collab and doesn’t keep up, thats not whats happening here. These artists are pushing each other forward, pushing the other to write even harder bars. Im here for it. I love to see it. And this kind of energy BELONGS on a debut album like this.
And finally an absolutely brutal feature from GAUZ3Y who also engineered this entire record with class. These dudes fit right into the Trap Metal wave and are both impressive mfs individually. Absolute beasts on the mic. What a treat to hear them together. This record is amazing, especially for being Tones debut full release! I give it an 11/10. Adding that additional singular point for engaging the listener and making the piece personal. Tone wraps up his album rewarding listeners with an expression of gratitude, making Rapture extremely memorable. His last line is “I hope you enjoyed it, cuz now your all coming with me” While it sounds menacing at first, not everything is what its seems. Once I got to the end of Tonejustdied’s debut release, I understood why he named the album RAPTURE. And you will too.
