1. Thank you for taking some time to be interviewed for Trap Metal Magazine. Can you please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us your name?!
For those who care to get to know me, I go by Eye.dntty, or eye for short. I’m an independent artist from Arizona, on a mission to push therapeutic expression through powerful audio imagery. I’m 20 years old as of this interview, I’ve fallen in love with music since I could listen, and I’ve always expressed that passion through intense and emotional lyrics hidden behind disturbing and unsettling music!
2. How long have you been working/making music under this project title?
This persona is still fairly recent and developing for me but I’ve always shown an interest in making music since I was a little kid. I’ve been taking music seriously as a hobby / secondary income for about a year and a half now, almost two years under the Eye.dntty mask. Every mask I collect, I connect it to a lesson to learn for that year, a practice I’ve been incorporating into my life to help remember my mission to better myself and others.
3. Who gets bragging rights for helping you get to where you are now? Who are your day ones?
my persona sort of stems from not having anyone to support me, this passion I’ve pursued was meant to help me find myself as I had felt very lost in that regard. It wasn’t until I began to make noise in my local area were people finally beginning to show appreciation. I would have to say my mother had and always will be my day one, even if she isn’t totally into the metal vibes.
4. What were you doing before all this started? Did you have other notable projects before this one?
I have many ongoing projects outside of music… I design and sell clothes in my spare time, and I write, direct, and film short films with my good buddy Chris over at “Shadowed Cinema”. I love just making things, anything, if there is something I find I can make to express myself, I’m more than likely adding it to my arsenal.
5. What can we expect from you next year? New music, visuals or tours?
The future is so difficult for me to predict right now but I have big dreams for sure! I’m always making music, I try to drop a single at least once a week if possible, so there’s a lot more music to come. I often film music videos to my favorite songs I make so if I ever find the time I’m always excited to flex my skills over both the lense and the mic. I would absolutely love to perform live sometime in the future, I had been requested to join the guys at trapmetal magazine to perform live a while back, fingers crossed that ship has not yet sailed and that I may bring my chaotic energy to the stage!
6. What are your long-term goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years. What about your end game?
If I could see 30 year old me right now I’d expect I’m completely sustainable and financially independent from the corporate world! In ten years I want to be married to my girlfriend, own a house with a studio room and live far away from humanity with the knowledge knowing I put good into the world and helped others feel heard and understood through my lyrics. In ten years I better be pulling in six figures!! No pressure future me…
7. With an interest in who your influences are, if you could go on tour with anyone in the world, who would be on the bill with you?
I grew up on those early SoundCloud days, all the classics were in constant rotation in my head. I listened to a lot of early xxxtentacion, lil darkie, and ski mask the slump god so my style can definitely be traced to some of their work. I also listened to a lot of early 2000s grunge rock like Deftones so I’d say if I could bring anyone to do a tour with me it would be those guys!
8. What is your local music scene like? What are the pros and cons? And where do you see room for improvement?
It’s funny, up until recently I actually had no idea that Arizona was so diverse in the Trapmetal scene! However, with that said, the negative side effects of this ongoing rise in popularity is that people are no longer interested in the actual art form itself. Too many people nowadays want to sound like whatever is popular in the underground without actually developing their own style and sound. Those same people will then also bash on you for not following the wave simply because you’re different. It’s frustrating as shit! I believe that we as a community can improve on this by simply being more accepting of new ideas, sounds, and styles within the music scene in general! If we stop comparing one another and start appreciating the work we all put in I could see Trapmetal as a whole sky rocketing into mainstream music.
9. Here at TMA we’re constantly looking for fresh talent and prospective features. If you had to choose 5 artists from your circle to put us on too, who would you choose and why?
I absolutely love this question because I am always trying to push my guys over at Anomalia Records… I would choose “ANXIOUSPANIC”, “CØRE VEIL”, “LIL INSAN3”, and “VOIL3T SOUND”!
10. As we wrap this up, is there anything else you want to add? And thank you for your time!
I really quickly just wanted to say that no matter how big or small I become in the future, if you’re reading this and I had helped you through my work, my DMs are always open, please reach out and let me know because knowing I am affecting others is why I do this! You are so much bigger and stronger than you realize, you just don’t see it, but trust me, I see you! If you had a chance to collect this issue bring it to one of my shows so I know you were there when I needed you most, I love you all, continue to be expressive, continue to be beautiful, and welcome because you are an official member of the CVŁT ØF EYE! #eyetakeover
